Who usually travels with Experience Co.?+
Across the 12 months ending 29 July 2026, our travelled groups were close to balanced, with about 55% women and 44% men. The median traveller was 34 and the median group had 9 people. That is a historical snapshot, not a promise about the mix on a specific edition.
What makes Experience Co. trips different?+
We design each edition around the destination rather than using a standard tour template. The usual rhythm is one or two experiences a day, with room to take the place in instead of rushing through a checklist.
Can adults of any age apply?+
Yes. Anyone aged 18 or older can apply. Our groups often skew from the late 20s to early 40s, but fit, energy and the experience itself matter more than fitting a narrow age band.
Can I travel with a friend or partner?+
Yes. You can apply solo or with someone you know.
Which airport should I fly into, and is there a group arrival time?+
You'll be flying into the airport linked to this edition (details shared upon booking confirmation) ahead of December 25th. We recommend arriving by early afternoon on the 25th so you can settle in before evening activities kick off. Since airport transfers aren't included, coordinate with fellow travelers landing around the same time to split a cab if you'd like.
What exactly is included in the trip, and what's on me?+
Included: all Sessions, Workshops & Energisers through the week, Cafe Visits & Local Explorations, and the Whale Watching trip in Mirissa. Excluded: international flights, visa cost, airport transfers, personal meals, drinks, shopping, and any solo excursions you want to do on your own time. Basically — we've got the experience covered, you cover the getting-there and personal extras.
Will I have WiFi and mobile data throughout the trip?+
Most cafes and accommodation spots in Galle have decent WiFi. For mobile data, grab a local SIM at the airport on arrival (Dialog or Mobitel are reliable, roughly USD 5-10 for a tourist data pack with several GB) — way cheaper than international roaming. We'd recommend picking one up right when you land so you're connected for transfers and group check-ins.
How do we get around in Galle — is local transport arranged?+
Airport transfers are NOT included in the edition price, so you'll need to arrange your own pickup on arrival — tuk-tuks, prepaid taxis, or ride apps like PickMe work well. Once the group activities kick off, local transport for included sessions, cafe visits, and the whale watching trip will be organized by the ExCo team.
What's the safety situation, and who do I contact in an emergency?+
Galle is very safe for travelers and a popular tourist hub. Standard precautions apply — watch your belongings at busy spots, stay hydrated, and avoid swimming alone in unmarked areas. Our on-ground ExCo crew will share local emergency contacts and a WhatsApp group at trip start, plus we'll have a dedicated trip lead reachable 24/7 throughout the 5 days.
What's the weather like in Galle in late December?+
Late December in Galle means warm, tropical weather — expect daytime temps around 27-30°C (80-86°F) with high humidity. It's technically the tail end of the monsoon season, so a quick shower now and then isn't unusual, but mostly you'll get sunny days perfect for the beach and whale watching. Evenings are pleasant and breezy.
How fit do I need to be? This trip's activity level is 2.+
This is a pretty relaxed trip — activity level 2 out of 5 means light walking, some time on your feet during cafe explorations, and getting on/off a boat for whale watching. No trekking or intense physical activity involved. If you can comfortably walk for 30-45 minutes and handle some sun, you're all set.
Is alcohol easily available, and is it included?+
Alcohol is available at most cafes, beach bars, and restaurants in Galle, but it's NOT included in the edition price — that's on you to order and pay for personally. Local Lion beer and arrack (Sri Lanka's local spirit) are worth trying! Just budget separately for drinks during free evenings.
I'm vegetarian/vegan — will I struggle with food in Sri Lanka?+
Not at all! Sri Lankan food is very veg-friendly — think dal curry, jackfruit curry, coconut sambols, and tons of rice-and-curry combos that are naturally vegan or easily adapted. We'll flag your dietary preference in advance so cafe visits and group meals have options sorted. Just let us know at booking so we can brief the local guides too.
What should I pack for Galle in December?+
Light, breathable clothes are your best friend — think cotton/linen for daytime, a light jacket for breezy evenings. Definitely pack swimwear (whale watching + beach vibes), reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and comfortable walking sandals or sneakers. Don't forget a power adapter (Sri Lanka uses Type D/G/M sockets), a reusable water bottle, and a light raincoat — December can bring surprise showers.
The edition price is USD 1050 — what else should I budget for?+
Your 1050 covers the core experience, but plan extra for: international flights to Sri Lanka (varies by city, book early for better rates), the visa (INR 2500), airport transfers, personal meals outside group activities, drinks/alcohol, shopping, and any solo excursions. A comfortable daily buffer of USD 20-30 for personal spending should cover you well for 5 days in Galle.
Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka, and how much does it cost?+
Yes, Indian passport holders need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for Sri Lanka. It costs INR 2,500 and you can apply online — it usually takes 2-3 business days to process. We recommend applying at least 2 weeks before December 25th to be safe. Keep the approval PDF on your phone and a printout, just in case immigration asks.
