Shillong’s magic is in the way it feels like home to us. Mornings are misty, and the rain creates just the right atmosphere to let our ideas take shape. A cozy & charming 60-year-old cottage tucked in the hills, while still being in the heart of Shillong, becomes everything - a studio, a nest, a space to jam. Whether you're deep in conversation, brainstorming over hot chocolate, or simply letting yourself be in the quiet, Shillong offers you space to reflect, connect and uncover new possibilities. By the end of six days, you're not just leaving a place. You’re going back with a whole new perspective and a tribe that feels like family.

Day 4

Roadtrip to Cherrapunji - the wettest place in India and hike to hidden waterfalls

It feels like a living room. The week is carefully run.

Beachhouse Project (BHX) is a six-day, invite-only growth residency designed to gently (and sometimes boldly) push you beyond your comfort zone. Here is what happens when you pull up a chair beside people who want to tilt the world: big ideas, honest conversations, harder questions, and moments that stay with you for a long time to come. Mornings begin with journals and chai; days unfold through brain-date walks, beachside “aha!” moments, intentional experiences, and discovering the coolest hidden spots together. Focus, exploration, and tribe accountability turn raw sparks into clear, actionable plans. No fluff. No noise. Just hand-picked professionals & creators under one roof, and magic that travels home with you. You come curious, leave with conviction and a tribe that won’t let your spark dim<3

Gameplan

The first days surface what people are stuck on. By the end, everyone has made specific asks and offers.

01

Your Journey in the Hills Begins

  • After a stunning roadtrip through the hills, you've made it! You'll walk into the villa, and there they'll be. Your people. You just don't know it yet.
  • Today is about landing softly. Settle in, breathe the hill air, and let the week come to you. Lunch together, easy introductions, and by evening – tea on the verandah and stories that start to go a little deeper than you expected.
  • You slowly get to know your Tribe through stories that matter. These will shift something in you and set the tone for one hell of a week.
Full day notes
  • The evening unfolds gently with tea, followed by an introductions session designed to spark connection and intention.
  • Then, as the evening settles in, you’re free to wander into the local market—lanes lit softly, little discoveries at every turn. Find a place that calls to you, share a meal (or not), and let the night unfold in your own way. This is your gentle, unhurried welcome to the hills.

Agencies, Brain Jams & Local Explorations

  • The day begins with continued conversations from the night before. And then it’s time for agencies that will open doors to collaboration and new perspectives.
  • You know that feeling when a conversation goes somewhere you didn't plan, and suddenly you're scribbling down ideas at 11am with someone you met 18 hours ago? That's how the rest of the day will look.
  • It’s time for Creative Marketplace. Share what you're building, what's keeping you stuck, what you're dreaming about. This one’s built to discover opportunities within the Tribe. To not just listen but actually show up for you.
Full day notes
  • The Creative Marketplace invites you to exchange ideas, showcase your craft, and discover opportunities within the tribe.
  • And then, because we're not here to work ourselves into the ground, we head out to Cloud 9 for drinks, good food, and Shillong's nightlife doing its thing in the background.

Roadtrip to Cherrapunji, Waterfalls & No Agendas

  • You've earned a breath. So, we pile into the cars and drive to Cherrapunji - one of the wettest places on Earth, and it shows. Waterfalls around every bend, clouds rolling through valleys, air that smells like rain and possibility.
  • Say what you've been meaning to say. Walk up to that person with your collab idea. Finish the conversation you started on Day 2. Leave no stone unturned.
  • Head to Nokhalikai View Point for a soaking sunset where the clouds meet you, it looks unreal, and let it all settle in.

Tight hugs, full hearts & "see you soon" (not goodbye)

  • Final breakfast with the tribe, reflecting on the days that you've spent together building yourself & re-connecting with your core.
  • But here's the thing – this isn't really goodbye. You're leaving with a changed mindset, a group chat that's going to be very active, and people who genuinely have your back.

FAQs

Who usually travels with Experience Co.?+

Across the 12 months ending 29 July 2026, our travelled groups were close to balanced, with about 55% women and 44% men. The median traveller was 34 and the median group had 9 people. That is a historical snapshot, not a promise about the mix on a specific edition.

What makes Experience Co. trips different?+

We design each edition around the destination rather than using a standard tour template. The usual rhythm is one or two experiences a day, with room to take the place in instead of rushing through a checklist.

Can adults of any age apply?+

Yes. Anyone aged 18 or older can apply. Our groups often skew from the late 20s to early 40s, but fit, energy and the experience itself matter more than fitting a narrow age band.

Can I travel with a friend or partner?+

Yes. You can apply solo or with someone you know.

Which airport should I fly into, and are transfers included?+

Fly into Shillong Airport (Umroi) if flights are available for your dates, or Guwahati (LGBI) which has far more flight options — it's about a 3-hour drive from Shillong. Airport transfers are NOT included in the trip price, so factor in a cab (~INR 2,500-3,500 from Guwahati) or coordinate with fellow travelers to split costs.

Will I have phone signal and WiFi?+

Shillong town has decent 4G coverage (Jio and Airtel work best), but expect patchy signal once you're out toward Cherrapunji and near the waterfalls — part of the charm, honestly. Most hotels offer WiFi. Grab a local SIM or an Indian roaming pack before arrival if you're coming from outside India.

How does local transport work during the trip?+

Local transport for included activities (waterfall hike, Cherrapunji road trip) is arranged as part of the group experience. For solo exploring or self-explore time, you'll use local cabs or shared taxis — Ola/Uber presence is limited in Shillong, so your trip lead can help arrange reliable local drivers.

Is Shillong safe? What if there's an emergency?+

Shillong is generally considered safe and welcoming, including for solo and women travelers. Your ExCo trip lead will share local emergency contacts, nearest hospital info, and a group WhatsApp for real-time support at trip start. Keep a photo of your ID and emergency contacts saved on your phone as backup.

What's the weather actually like in early September?+

Still monsoon season — expect rain (sometimes heavy), high humidity, and temperatures between 18-25°C. Cherrapunji is one of the wettest places on Earth, so don't be surprised by sudden downpours during the road trip. The upside: waterfalls are at their most dramatic this time of year.

What's the alcohol situation?+

Meghalaya is alcohol-friendly (unlike some neighboring states), and Shillong has a decent local bar and pub scene. Drinks aren't included in the trip price, so budget separately if you plan to explore the nightlife — expect INR 300-600 for a decent drink at most places.

I'm vegetarian/vegan — will I survive?+

Easily. Shillong and Meghalaya have solid vegetarian options — rice, dal, local greens, and North Indian staples are widely available. Vegan is doable but needs a bit more asking around (dairy is common in local dishes). Let your trip lead know your preferences in advance so meals can be planned accordingly where included.

How fit do I need to be? This is rated Activity Level 3.+

Level 3 means moderate activity — think a few hours of walking/hiking with some uneven, potentially slippery terrain (especially near waterfalls in monsoon season). You don't need to be a gym regular, but comfort walking 3-5 km with some elevation change will make the Cherrapunji road trip and waterfall hike way more enjoyable.

What should I pack for Shillong in September?+

September is monsoon tail-end season in Meghalaya — expect rain, mist, and humidity. Pack: a light rain jacket or poncho, quick-dry clothes, one warm layer for chilly evenings (temps can dip to 18°C), comfortable trekking shoes with grip, a dry bag for electronics, and a reusable water bottle. Flip-flops for the hotel, sturdy shoes for the waterfall hike.

What's actually included in the INR 82,000?+

This covers accommodation, the core group experience (hike to waterfalls, road trip to Cherrapunji), in-trip local transport for planned activities, and the overall BHX brainstorm/vacation vibe. Flights, airport transfers, personal meals/drinks, solo excursions, and add-on activities are NOT included — plan separately for these.

The edition price is INR 82,000 — what else should I budget for?+

Flights to/from Shillong (or Guwahati, the nearest major airport), airport transfers, personal meals not covered, drinks, shopping, and any solo excursions are extra. Realistically, budget an additional INR 12,000–20,000 depending on your flight dates and how much you want to explore or shop on your own.

Do I need a visa for Shillong?+

Nope! Since this is a domestic trip within India, there's no visa required and zero visa cost. Just carry a valid government ID (Aadhaar, passport, or driver's license) for travel and hotel check-ins. That's one less thing to stress about.
